      Fictitious Firm Names in Nevada ...

        The State of Nevada requires any person or entity who operates a business under an assumed name or a name other than their own to file a Certificate of Fictitious Firm Name with the county clerk in each county in which they conduct business.

        The Certificate of Fictitious Firm Name must contain certain information as outlined in Nevada State Revised Statute 602.020. click here for full text of Nevada Revised Statute 602.020

        For corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and, trusts, the Certificate must include the name of the parent entity and the Certificate must be signed by an officer, member, or trustee of the parent entity. - The Certificate must also contain the mailing address of the parent entity.

        According to NRS 602.080, limited partnerships are exempt from this law and do not have to record a Certificate of Fictitious Firm Name.

        The filing fee to file a Certificate of Fictitious Firm Name is $20.00. - Be sure to include two copies of the Certificate and a self-addressed stamped return envelope so that the Clerk can mail copies of the recorded document back to you.

          Note: ... The Nye County web site states that the "Physical address of the business" must be included on the form. - However, nowhere in the Nevada Revised Statute 602 does it indicate that the physical address of the business be on the Certificate.

          Note: ... The Nye County web site states that the "Type of business to be conducted" must be included on the form. - However, nowhere in the Nevada Revised Statute 602 does it indicate that the type of business be on the Certificate.

          Note: ... The Certificate form that is on the Nye County web site indicates that a telephone number is required. - However, nowhere in the Nevada Revised Statute 602 does it indicate that a telephone number be on the Certificate.

          Note: ... The Certificate form that is on the Nye County web site contains a notarization portion which indicates that the document must be acknowledged by the Nye County Clerk (or Deputy Clerk). - Although Nevada Revised Statute 602.020.2 requires the signature on the Certificate to be notarized, it is abundantly clear that the signature may be notarized by any notary.
